It’s rare these days when celebrities and media attend an event and can honestly say that they had FUN but that’s exactly what happened when WeChat South Africa hosted their Gunz Dash challenge in Johannesburg last week hosted by the awesome Gareth Cliff.
Gunz Dash is a mobile game which sort of reminds me of Sonic The Hedgehog where you have to collect coins and, obviously, get the highest score.
As it was a challenge, each person attending received one of those boxing gowns with their surname printed on the back and were split into teams of five.
I teamed up with legends such as Jack Parow and Jimmy Tau and we each played until the character dies in the hope of getting the high score. WeChat promised to donate the number of the high score to the iSchoolAfrica initiative.
The game was played by one member of each team at a time on a boxing ring and it was great to see just how much effort WeChat went through to put this all together.
After the orange team won the challenge, which included celebs such as Shashi Naidoo and Jonathan Boynton-Lee, WeChat announced they would quadruple the amount of points they won and donate R100 000 to the cause.
Celebrities who attended included Roxy Burger, Lee-Roy Wright, Pearl Modiadie, Boity, JR, Zakeeya Patel, Jimmy Tau, Da L.E.S and DJ Milkshake.
Well done to the WeChat team on an awesome event!
