Vicky Pattison Speaks Ex On The Beach

When eight single guys and girls arrive in a beautiful Mediterranean paradise and move into a luxury villa together as part of a new MTV dating series, they’re expecting to find holiday romance. What they don’t know is that things are about to get very ex-citing… Just as they get off to a sizzling start, their dream scenarios quickly sour, as their ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends begin to appear unexpectedly. Slowly, reality sets in but no one knows – whose ex is next? El spoke to the celebrity contestant – Vicky Pattison!

Ex on the Beach is an exciting new reality show. Why head back into reality television after the hit that was Geordie Shore?

Reality TV, for me, is where I got my start. I’m such a fan of reality television and even now I can’t keep my eyes off some of them. I think with my personality, because I’m quite controversial, confrontational and opinionated, I think reality TV is the best place for me. That or like a mental asylum. Apart from that, Ex on the Beach was just too good to turn down. When I first heard about the show I was as excited about the show as everyone is now and I just knew it was something I wanted to be involved in. Also, MTV pushed boundaries with the cruel twist they added to the show by bringing some of our exes along.

What was your initial reaction when you found out that your exes will be popping up?

It’s a real feeling of abject terror and shock because you’re not really sure if it’s going to be your first love, or the one that got away or whether it’s going to be your annoying ex that you hate. It’s a scary feeling because you’re just waiting around for that moment where whatever ex it is to materialize. Also, if you’re like me, who has a few exes to choose from, it’s really frightening!

Why do another reality show with MTV?

I love MTV. They’ve really been good to me. Through my highs and lows on Geordie Shore they’ve been really supportive and I see them as my family. If I scratch their back, I’m hoping they will scratch mine. I want to be a TV presenter, El. If I keep doing these shows, hopefully they will throw me a bone.

We love that idea! Being a Geordie Shore star you’re quite well known around the world. Did your fellow contestants find you intimidating at all?

I think they were really shocked when they saw me on the beach on the first day. Some of them were quite distrustful and thought I was going to be sort of secretive but once they realized I was there in the same capacity as them, I really bonded with a lot of the housemates. I still speak with some of them today. We really were all in the same boat wondering “Who’s ex is next.”

What went through your mind when you saw your exes for the first time?

Luckily for me, El, I had a couple of exes for come out. You’re never sure who it’s going to be and you get that feeling of the unknown. It’s really tense. When the my first ex walked out the water, it was a sigh of relief because he was the one that got away, for me and I was really excited to see him. When my next ex walked out the water, the feeling was the complete opposite. I am quite famous for my turbulent relationship history and this show is no different. Things do get quite explosive. Expect more shouting, swearing and drink throwing. You know, all the things I’m good at!

So, why should someone watch the show?

The real question, El, is why shouldn’t you watch the show? It’s got everything a reality TV fan enjoys. It’s fast-paced, it’s fun, set in a gorgeous location, it’s a complete rollercoaster of emotions, there are shock entrances, shock exits, revenge, romance rekindling and of course, we’re all half-naked most of the time! What more could you possibly want??

Catch Ex On The Beach, Thursdays at 21h15 on MTV.
