Universal Music Signs Four More The Voice SA Contestants

Earlier this month, Craig Lucas became the winner of The Voice South Africa’s second season. The star beat out tough competition and a recording contract with Universal Music South Africa, R250 000 in cash from dialdirect, a Gear S3 smart watch, a Galaxy S8 smart phone, a Gear VR, a 360 camera, a Gear iconiX set and a 65 inch KS9500 SUHD TV from Samsung, a Subaru Impreza 2.0 Premium CVT and R100 000 of fashion from Truworths. However, Craig isn’t the only contestant being signed to the music powerhouse. The label confirmed that Caroline Grace, Fatman Brummer, Josh Ansley and Armand Joubert have all signed contracts and will release new music later this year.

As a sponsor of The Voice South Africa, Universal Music has the opportunity to approach any talent that has appeared on the show before any other label. It’s great to see that the label is nurturing young talent and is giving these standout contestants a chance to showcase their abilities alongside their impressive roster of artists despite not winning the competition.

This is the second consecutive year that Universal Music has signed contestants from The Voice South Africa on top of the winner. Last year, runner-up Gavin Edwards as well as contestants Zoë Modiga, Thembeka Mnguni, Vernon Barnard, Jono Johansen, Jeremy Olivier, Almur Marais, Johan Anker and Austin Lurring joined the label on single-based contracts.

I’m stoked to see what the stars have in store for us on their debut singles and I have no doubt that this is the start of their successful musical journey.
