He’s responsible for hits such as ‘Save Me’, ‘I Need You’ and ‘Find A Way’ and after a year of dominating the local airwaves with his edgy take on dance music, TiMO ODV will finally release his debut EP early next month. The EP, titled ‘Origins’ will be released on all digital platforms on Friday 2 September and the singer promises us a side of him we’ve never seen before.
“I chose the name Origins because it showcase the actual origin of what I make and love to make,” the producer tells me as he readies his first collection of songs. “This is the first time a lot of people get to hear all the music I make – not just the music that would play on commercial radio.” The EP features TiMO ODV’s three hit singles as well as a collective of radio hits and club bangers. When asked what listeners can expect on the album, the singer simply replied “big, dirty bass-lines and a piece of my heart”. Sounds like the perfect recipe to me.
TiMO ODV believes that the upcoming EP is the perfect way to introduce himself properly. “It’s a side of me that the everyday person who hears my songs on radio doesn’t get to see or hear very often,” he reveals. The producer has made it clear that he is not just an artist who makes songs for radio. Despite this, the singer confirms that the EP includes his next radio single. While he hasn’t revealed too much about the song, he has confirmed that the song features one of the freshest faces in South African pop at the moment – Ryki.
