These Are The Most-Watched South Africans On YouTube In 2019

It’s no surprise that South Africans love watching content on streaming service YouTube. Whether it be trailers, music videos, skits, news pieces or any other type of content, many South Africans turn to YouTube for their viewing pleasures. Now, a new report highlights which South Africans the country is connecting with the most on the streaming site.

Late night television talk show host Trevor Noah, naturally, tops the list for South Africa’s most watched video but its, ironically, for a performance he did on The Ellen DeGeneres show and not for his own. His appearance on the show, where he plays a game of Who’d You Rather, has been watched over 26 million times.

Lasizwe continues to become a streaming phenomenon. He performed third best for his video on South African drive thru’s with over 1.5 million views while a video on Uzalo actress Gugu Gumede came in with 1.2 million views.

On the music front, hip-hop is still a genre that draws the most views to the video platform. Nasty C, Biggy, Cardi B and Lil Nas X, Snotkop and Rikus Nel, Normani and Sam Smith brought in a whole lot of views but it was Sjava’s ‘Umama’ which brought in the most views in music this year with over six million streams.
