The Parlotones Share More Tracks From Forgotten Songs Series With EP 3 ‘Raw & Unheard’

The Parlotones continue their captivating journey into the past with the release of Forgotten Songs EP 3 – Raw & Unheard, the latest instalment in their Forgotten Songs series. This third EP brings fans a collection of previously unreleased songs and unheard demo tracks, rediscovered from a treasure trove of old hard drives and CDs. Now, these hidden gems are finally making their way to streaming platforms for the first time.

Through this series, The Parlotones have been revisiting their archives, carefully selecting songs that never saw the light of day. Raw & Unheard showcases raw early demos recorded live, as well as fully recorded tracks that never made it onto an album.

Among these unearthed tracks is “Let’s Start a Fight”, recorded in the early 2000s with Ludwig Bouwer at One Big Room studio. The band had previously recorded live demos here for Radio Controlled Robot and A World Next Door to Yours and later returned to capture this track—one that ultimately remained unreleased, until now.

The EP also features demo versions of “Giant Mistake”, “Life Design”, and “Bird in Flight”, all recorded at One Big Room studio. These live demos give fans a fresh perspective on familiar songs, some of which closely resemble their final album versions, while others showcase significant evolution. “Bird in Flight” began as an intimate acoustic recording on a couch before Theo Crous at Bellville Studios helped reshape it into its more upbeat album version. Likewise, “Life Design” underwent a key change from minor to major, transforming it into the anthemic track fans know today.

Adding to the EP’s allure are two recordings from Openroom Productions with Darryl Torr during the making of Stand Like Giants. “Chinese Vase” was included on the album, but “Pick Your Poison” was left off, finally earning its place in this collection. Another rarity from Stand Like Giants is “Slow Assassination”, co-written with Jon Savage. A stripped-down piano version featuring Jane Elizabeth was recorded but never released and finally is now available on EP 3.

With Forgotten Songs EP 3 – Raw & Unheard, The Parlotones invite fans on another nostalgic journey, revealing the raw and intimate moments that shaped their music.
