American folk-rock heavyweights The Lumineers are set to make their long-awaited return to South Africa in February 2026, bringing their The Automatic World Tour to Cape Town and Pretoria.
The duo of Wesley Schultz (vocals, guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums, piano, percussion) first broke through in 2012 with their self-titled debut, an album that helped define the resurgence of Americana in the 2010s. Since then, they’ve racked up 24 No. 1 hits, over 6 billion streams, multiple GRAMMY nominations, and sold-out tours on nearly every continent.
The Lumineers had already announced two dates — Feb. 4 at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town and Feb. 7 at SunBet Arena, Time Square in Pretoria — but demand was so overwhelming that tickets disappeared within hours. Now, South African fans will get another chance: additional shows have been added on Feb. 5 in Cape Town and Feb. 8 in Pretoria. Tickets are available now.
The South African shows come in support of the band’s fifth studio album, Automatic (2025), a raw, adventurous addition to their catalog that Schultz describes as “feeling our way through the dark.” It’s the follow-up to their 2022 Brightside era, which saw the group sell over 1.1 million tickets worldwide, including arena and stadium stops in North America and Europe.
Known for their evocative songwriting and electrifying live shows, The Lumineers have headlined Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, and Fuji Rock, and built a reputation for turning festival fields and arenas alike into mass sing-alongs. Their setlists blend anthems like “Ho Hey” and “Ophelia” with newer material, offering both nostalgia and reinvention.
Beyond the music, The Lumineers have consistently used their platform to champion causes including environmental sustainability, youth mental health, and music education.
