The Chainsmokers have become one of the hottest acts to hit the international dance scene. They took the world by storm with their smash hit ‘Selfie’ back in 2013 and their current single ‘Roses’ which features vocals by ROZES is one of the most played songs on South African radio at the moment. However, the duo is already planning the release of their next single ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ which features vocals from American up-and-coming star Daya.
The song starts off as a typical pop song with smooth, delicate vocals from ‘Hide Away’ singer, Daya, before building up strength at the pre-chorus and goes into full on club mode on the chorus. I love how The Chainsmokers literally build the song and take the listener on that journey. It’s something unique and it makes the song stand out. “I’m super proud of it,” says Drew Taggart. “I think it’s one of the best songs I’ve written and produced. I think people are going to be pretty blown away by it and it’s very different than ‘Roses,’ which is nice.”
EDM is still a dominant genre at the moment and it’s acts like this who think out of the box which make music like this that go far. Will the track follow the same success as ‘Roses’? I’m not sure, but I really hope so. Every time the band drops a song, I know it’s going to be fire so it’s safe to say that The Chainsmokers are officially playing with the big boys!
