Empire fans around the country will be able to get up close and personal with the show’s Taraji P. Henson, who plays the fierce Cookie Lyons, who has announced that she will be jetting off to Mzansi for a week-long publicity tour which includes a press conference and various fan events next week.
The actress is expected to stay in the country for five days as she continues to promote the show’s fifth season but is also expected to use her celebrity status to do some charity work and will be ending off her tour by attending an exclusive ‘Women In Media’ event.
Taraji fell in love with South Africa during her previous visit to the country in 2016. Not only did she fall in love with the warmth she received here, but she also fell in love with our South African cuisine. “I love South African food because it’s flavourful, your taste buds dance, you just never know what combinations… very spicy. I love food that you can taste, I don’t like bland food,” she said.
FOX Africa, the channel which screens the popular drama series, confirms that they will be hosting special fan events to get viewers of the show to meet the star as the show continues to remain popular with local audiences.

The show is currently in a production break and left viewers with a major cliff hanger as a major character is rumoured to be dead. The second half of the fifth season will return to the channel early next year.
