The highly-anticipated ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ film, the third in Marvel’s popular ‘Deadpool’ franchise is finally out today. The film is the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Deadpool 2’ and sees Ryan Reynolds return as Wade Wilson. This time, however, he is thrust into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019.
This time, we reunite with Wade who is living a quiet life. This is until, on his birthday, the Time Variance Authority (TVA)—a bureaucratic organisation that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline—pulls him into a new mission. With his home universe facing an existential threat, Wilson reluctantly joins an even more reluctant Wolverine, which sees Hugh Jackman revisit the character, on a mission that will change the history of (MCU).
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is one of the most anticipated of the year – and it doesn’t disappoint. As expected, the film is R-rated, the first Marvel film to be, and features all of the quirks and action we love about the Deadpool series. Ryan and Hugh have incredible chemistry and keep viewers entertained from the very first second of the film. Fans can expect epic action scenes, an epic villain in Emma Corrin’s Cassandra Nova and some really exciting cameos!
In celebration, Disney Africa held a very special premiere at the Eastgate Ster Kinekor in celebration of the film. In true Disney style – they went big! From epic food, activations including a tattoo station and some claw machines with epic prizes, and took over the entire cinema making a massive impact.
Comedians Mpho Popps and Tsitsi Chiumya played hosts and celebrities Okay Wasabi, Sonia Tona, Thabo Rametsi, Chad Jones, Sam ‘Tech Girl’ Wright, Brent Lindeque, Lee-Roy Wright, Tino Chiyani, Supta, Donald “Over The Moon” Guy and more were in attendance.
