South Africa To Get A Taste Of Tomorrowland

One of the items on my bucket list is to attend one of the world’s biggest dance music festival – Tomorrowland. The event, held in Boom, Belgium, sees thousands of people from around the world flocking to the European country to experience the incredible production of Tomorrowland. Not only do the biggest names in dance music headline the festival, but the stage, special effects and props used are bigger and better than any other event on the dance music calender. Now, thanks to Tomorrowland UNITE, South Africans will also be able to get a taste of the festival right here in Johannesburg.

Tomorrowland UNITE, essentially, is a mirror of the famous Belgian festival. This means that on the 23rd of July, while the festival is happening, South Africa will also be able to experience the event with the same world-class theatrical production that has made the festival famous, and with a live screening of the headlining acts.

The indoor event, which will be held at the Nasrec Expo Centre, will give the local audience a peek into the world-famous festival right from our backyard. Naturally, a stellar local line-up is expected and will be revealed when Tomorrowland announces its line-up on Monday the 15th of May. Along with a list of local performers, Tomorrowland UNITE will also release official ticketing information then.

What makes Tomorrowland UNITE unique is the fact that it will be happening simultaneously in seven countries. These include South Africa, Mexico, Colombia, Germany, Israel, Japan and India. UNITE will be bringing Love, Unity, Madness and Magic to 7 stadiums, tens of thousands of kilometres across the globe from Boom.

“It feels great to perform at Tomorrowland but the feeling that also ten thousands of people are also partying in 7 other countries is incredible. We think UNITE can definitely bring a part of Belgium to South Africa!” says the celebrated DJ duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

The festival is incredibly popular. After starting in Belgium, the festival has expanded to the United States and Brazil. However, the incredible demand means many are left unable to attend. However, thanks to UNITE, this is now a thing of the past.

Although this isn’t the announcement many of us were waiting for, I think it’s a lovely initiative from the brand to expand into different territories without really doing much. Check back for more details on the local line-up, tickets and other event info from the 16th of May.
