I’ve been following Shekhinah since her days on Idols South Africa and her career hits a milestone this month as she officially signs a deal with Sony Music Africa. She’s released the smash hits ‘Back To The Beach’, ‘Let You Know’ and has collaborated with the likes of Black Coffee on ‘Your Eyes’ and Jesse Clegg on ‘Breathing’ and now, after signing the biggest deal of her life, the singer is readying her debut album which is scheduled to be released later this year.
“Sony and Me, finally! The results here will be rosey, I am happy to say we’re in Motion,” the singer posted on social media confirming the deal. Spiro Damaskinos, Director of Electronic Music and A&R at Sony Music Entertainment Africa says “Shekhinah is undoubtedly one of the most exciting, young, gifted, female singer / songwriters on the scene, who is focused on her career. We are very excited to welcome Shekhinah to the Sony Music family, and look forward to working closely together to take her music to the continent and beyond.”
There’s something about Sony and Shekhinah that just fit. Here’s hoping we get a new single soon because lord knows we have been waiting long for a full body of work. Congrats, Shekhinah.
