In the age of social media, artists are feeling more and more at ease at the idea of bringing fans along for the creation process. Charlie Puth is someone who has done this brilliantly and now, multi-award winning South African vocal and lyrical legend Samthing Soweto has jumped on the bandwagon.
The producer finally released his new single ‘AmaGents’, a song has been working on since the beginning of the year. Sharing the process on social media, the star invited fans to collaborate with him on the project and, after sharing a snippet on TikTok on the 17th of January 2022, the sound instantly went viral, with nearly 16 000 videos created under the sound to date.
Over the last six months, thousands of fans have resonated with the poignant and relatable message behind the song, which Samthing Soweto says he wrote as an ode to being a father to a daughter in South Africa. The song lyrics address her directly and speak about the complexities of men, whilst reminding her that despite all of this he is still her loving father.
In a beautiful nod, the single artwork even features the artist alongside his daughter as well.
The song serves as the lead single off the star’s upcoming studio album and, after the brilliance of this song, fans are placing very high expectations for the material.
