Sabrina Carpenter Steps Outside Her Comfort Zone On New Single ‘Why’

18-year-old Sabrina Carpenter has had an exciting few months. Not only did she release her second studio album ‘Evolution’ in October last year and has since released the hit single ‘Hands’ alongside The Vamps and Mike Perry. Now, in a surprising move, the star has released an exciting new single titled ‘Why’ where heads in a new sonic direction.

The song is an exciting blend of electronic music and pop which seems to be trend at the moment. It’s reminiscent of Kygo and Selena Gomez’s ‘It Ain’t Me’ and Zedd and Alessia Cara’s ‘Stay, songs which both have taken the world by storm. The song is about opposites attracting and how compromise and differences make a relationship exciting. The song is filled with vocal chops and synths and sees Sabrina step outside of her comfort zone more than ever before.

However, it’s the song’s lyrical content which really sets the song apart. “This song happened very quickly,” the star said in a recent interview. “We started with the first line of the song — ‘You like New York City in the daytime; I like New York City in the night time’ — and from there, the song kind of wrote itself. It’s basically [about] these differences that we all have, that keep us different from one another but at the same time glue us together. … I like to say it’s very conversational, which some of my other songs haven’t been before.” The star has said that she is already working on her next album and is taking more risks than ever before. ‘Why’ is an exciting new track from the star and is another reminder of just how talented and unique she is.
