Boohle and Kamo Mphela Win Big At The First SA Amapiano Awards

The amapiano genre has exploded, not only within our boarders, over the past few years – but globally as well. The genre’s unique sound and African influences has made it one of the most exciting genres right now and the 2021 Amapiano Music Awards celebrated the biggest movers and shakers in the genre with a special award ceremony this week.

Boohle and Kamo Mphela proved to be the biggest winners of the night each taking home two awards. Boohle took home the Best Amapiano Newcomer and Best Amapiano Vocalist awards while Kamo won in the Best Amapiano Dance Act and Amapiano Artist of the Year categories.

Riky Rick and Lady Lu won the Friends of Amapiano and Best Female Amapiano Artist awards, respectively. The Best Amapiano Album of the Year Award went to De Mthuda for ‘Ace Of Spades’.
