Review: Wiz Khalifa – Blacc Hollywood (Deluxe Edition)

Wiz Khalifa
Blacc Hollywood (Deluxe Edition) (Warner Music)

Breakdown: He may only be 26 but Wiz Khalifa has just released his fifth studio album Blacc Hollywood. The album was preceeded by a number of hit singles such as We Dem Boyz, Promises and KK. The album also sees Wiz collaborating with some of the biggest names in hip-hop such as Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, Ty Dolla $ign and many more.

How Many Good Tracks: 9 of the 15.

What I Liked: Wiz managed to release an album for everyone. There are many hip-hop tracks but the pop elements are very clear in this album and tracks like his breakout single ‘Black And Yellow’ are really prominent. This is also seen in the smash hit ‘We Dem Boyz’. Wiz also has a great voice when he raps that is comforting rather than scary (Rick Ross for example). The rapper also picked some awesome names to collaborate with and it brings a lot of new dimensions to the songs.

What I Didn’t Like: I hate to say it but the album becomes quite boring. I think Wiz should have kept some of the songs for a different album because the album tends to become rather confusing at times with all of the differnet genres he’s mixed with his signature hip-hop songs. Also, while there are some fantastic songs on the album, some of the tracks are clear fillers and do absolutely nothing for the record.

Best Track: Other than We Dem Boyz, it would have to be Stayin Out All Night.

Rating: 3/5
