This movie will have you on the edge of your seat rooting for Mark Watney all the way!
Starring: Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain
Plot: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return. Based on a best-selling novel.
Remarks: This film was brilliant. Not only was the script phenomenal, but Matt Damon brought his A-Game. Imagine being stuck on Mars! Matt encompassed every emotion one would go through when being left behind on a planet – fear, loneliness, hope. It’s not easy acting in a space environment. The movements have to be exact, the costumes are intense and knowledge of all the equipment is a must – and Matt really pulled it off. The film had you rooting for Matt when things weren’t going his way and filled you with pride when he overcame obstacles. There was a perfect division between the film’s focus on Matt, NASA and the carrier his fellow astronauts were on. The set was built beautifully and along with an epic score, one could easily feel as if they were alongside Mark on his mission. I loved everything about this film and I can’t wait to go watch it again!
