The epic finale we have been waiting for has finally arrived!
Starring: Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth
Plot: Realizing the stakes are no longer just for survival, Katniss Everdeen teams up with her closest friends, including Peeta, Gale and Finnick for the ultimate mission. Together, they leave District 13 to liberate the citizens of war-torn Panem and assassinate President Snow, who’s obsessed with destroying Katniss. What lies ahead are mortal traps, dangerous enemies and moral choices that will ultimately determine the future of millions.
Remarks: There is something magical about this franchise and has had me hooked. This time, the story follows on from Mockingjay Part 1 and, personally, I hate that they split the story in half. The beginning was a bit confusing and took some time for me to put the first and second Mockingjay films together (yes, I should have re-watched Mockingjay Part 1 before watching Part 2). The story was good and there was quite a bit of character development in this film, for me. I loved seeing how Peeta developed after being ‘hijacked’ and was mentally tortured to belive that he needs to kill Katniss. The CGI and explosives were on point as well this time around. The movie is quite long so, naturally, a lot happens. However, I felt that so much was irrelevant and could have easily be left out. Jennifer isn’t the best actress in Hollywood and had certain moments which showed off her weaknesses. There is a nice twist towards the end, however, I didn’t leave with that ‘wow’ feeling I did with the first two films. The story adds some weird zombies which I also didn’t like, however, the film finishes off the story nicely. I think the story would have had more of a punch if the first and second parts of the film were combined into one epic finale.
Rating: 3/5
