Review: That Awkward Moment

The whole movie is one big awkward moment!

Starring: Zac Efron and Imogen Poots

Plot: Jason is your typical young adult. He loves to party, have sex and get drunk. Things change for Jason when he gets dumped by a girl who he didn’t even realize he was dating. His best friend Mikey found out his wife was sleeping with another man and has asked him for a divorce and his other single friend Daniel is, like Jason, also enjoying the single life. The three make a pact to stay single and enjoy time alone but this proves harder than anyone imagined. Jason meets Ellie, who just might be perfect for him, Daniel starts to realize that his gal pal Chelsea might be perfect for him, and Mikey has always thought that his wife was perfect for him. The three best friends realize that it could be time to settle down, well, before things go horribly wrong.

Remarks: If you, like me, are thinking that this is a comedy – think again! Sure, there are some hilarious parts in the film but all in all the movie falls flat in that regard. The film disappointed. The storyline is far from strong enough and the story is super predictable. Sure, it’s great for a chilled night out but you will leave the cinema thinking “I can’t believe they made that into a movie.” Girls, and some guys, will enjoy the few nude and sex scenes Zac Efron has in the film but unfortunately, it won’t make up for the lack of substance. I did, however, love the chemistry and friendship between the three friends and found it really realistic. I also found myself routing for Jason and Ellie throughout the film as well and the scene at the last book reading will pull on your heartstrings. Other than that, the film is a mess and I can see why they named it The Awkward Moment…

Rating: 2/5

That Awkward Moment releases on April 11th, 2014.
