Breakdown: R. City are the duo behind the smash hit ‘Locked Away’ which features Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice USA coach, Adam Levine, however, the guys have been in the industry producing some of your favourite songs from the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, Miley Cyrus and more since 2003!
How Many Good Tracks: 7 of the 14.
What I Liked: The duo are creative. ‘Locked Away’ is one of the biggest tracks of 2015 and R. City effortlessly blend reggae elements into their pop and hip-hop jams. The duo have stayed true to themselves and have released music with hints of music that has influenced them throughout their lives. The duo teamed up with Dr Luke so you know the production on each and every track is immaculate. With catchy hooks and their unique sound, R. City are ready to take over the pop space.
What I Didn’t Like: There isn’t much substance on this album. The songs are predictable and filled with auto-tune.The duo are clearly musically minded and are professionsals, however, it seems they wanted to put so much into this album that the overall sound becomes hazy. Lyrically, the album isn’t mindblowing but that doesn’t mean the hits aren’t there.
Best Track: Make Up (Feat. Chloe Angelides)
