OMI
Me 4 U (Sony Music)
Breakdown: He had one of the biggest songs of 2015 and after the huge success of ‘Cheerleader’, Jamacian singer, OMI, has dropped his debut studio album ‘Me 4 U’. The album also includes OMI’s current smash hit ‘Hula Hoop’.
How Many Good Tracks: 6 of the 14.
What I Liked: OMI has some bangers on this album. There are some great summer anthems on the record which is sure to set clubs alight over the next few months. Production-wise, the beats are simple, yet effective. The album shows off different sides of OMI, proving that the singer is not just a one-trick pony. OMI explores with genres such as pop, tropical house, reggae and even has hints of rock on this album all while crafting his own sound which shows how versatile the singer is as an artist.
What I Didn’t Like: This album is underwhelming. There are way too many fillers on the album and it’s clear that this album was rushed after the success of ‘Cheerleader’. While OMI wrote most of the songs on the album, the songwriting is almost too basic. The album’s first two singles are stong and while there is another track or two that would do well as a single, the album, unfortunately, will disappoint a lot of listeners.
Best Track: Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix)
