Nothing But Thieves
Nothing But Thieves (Sony Music)
Breakdown: English alternative rock band, Nothing But Thieves, exploded onto the rock scene with their singles ‘Itch’ and ‘Trip Switch’. Although the band formed back in 2012, it’s only now that they’ve dropped their debut album/
How Many Good Tracks: 7 of the 16.
What I Liked: The band really has the essence of rock and roll in their music. The band has the old school rock sound that made the genre so popular with a hint of modern elements. Their harmonies and vocals are out of this world and the few guitar solos on the album will blow your mind.
What I Didn’t Like: The album isn’t anything special. The songs don’t stand out of the crowd or make someone stop what they’re doing to take note. Don’t get me wrong, the guys are incredibly talented, however, I felt disappointed by the material they released on this album. It’s boring. The band also seems to play it too safe with a sound they know works for them and don’t stray too far from that. As mentioned, the talent is clear, I just wish they had a bit more direction.
