Review: Nicholis Louw – So Rock Ons Die Wêreld Reg

Nicholis Louw
So Rock Ons Die Wêreld Reg (Select Musiek)

Breakdown: He’s one of the biggest pop stars in South Africa and after a long wait, Nicholis Louw is back with his brand new album ‘So Rock Ons Die Wêreld Reg’. The album was preceded by his brand new single ‘Bring Die Storm’ and is typical, fun Afrikaans music!

How Many Good Tracks: 10 of the 17.

What I Liked: This really is music for everyone. The album manages to take the listener out of their current situation and helps one just forget about the troubles in the world by jamming to these super catchy jams. There is hardly a single song that won’t be stuck in your head after only one spin. Also, the album has 17 tracks on it, which divided by it’s price of R100, means each song costs you R5,80! What a bargain!

What I Didn’t Like: I know it’s his signature but once I get a few songs into the album, Nicholis’ deep singing voice gets a bit annoying but hey, with those catchy beats, I see why it works. Also, one thing I found on a lot of the tracks is that they follow the same recipe which shows a lack of creativity. I know it’s what people expect, but surely even he gets bored of the same kind of song time after time.

Best Track: Tong In Die Kies

Rating: 3.5/5
