Review: Nerve

The dangerous game will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Starring: Emma Roberts and Dave Franco

Plot: Industrious high school senior, Vee Delmonico, has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition partnered with a mysterious stranger, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.

Remarks: I remember when I first watched the trailer for this film. It grabbed me from the first few seconds. The film had the potential to be great and is filled with many great moments, but there are some flaws as well. The story is quite captivating. It’s an interesting tale that definitely keeps you entertained from start to finish. The tension is there and I often found myself at the edge of my seat. Emma Roberts shines in the film. I loved how her character developed throughout the movie and she really played this role exceptionally well. Dave, on the other hand, felt a little flat to me. I do, however, wish that they made this a little more realistic. The film explains how the ‘Nerve’ site is built and how no one (not even the American government, apparently) can take the site down. That being said, the film has a nice twist in the end and is definitely a movie you should check out.

Rating: 3/5

Nerve releases on August 19th 2016.
