Review: Michael Bublé – Nobody But Me

The one thing Michael Bublé has been a master of doing is blending his love of jazz music with contemporary pop influences and has become one of the most unique artists in the world. Now, after 15 years in the industry, Michael Bublé has dropped his ninth studio album ‘Nobody But Me’ which stemmed the smash hit of the same name.

This time around, Michael Bublé does what he does best. The album contains three brand new tracks and seven cover versions of jazz classics such as ‘Sott’er Celo De Roma’, “My Kind of Girl” and “The Very Thought of You”. Naturally, Bublé gives these tracks his own spin and delivers another strong record.

Vocally, the crooner uses his voice cleverly. He understands his instrument and it’s limitations and uses this knowledge to his advantage. Bublé has crafted a perfect mix of traditional jazz, ballads and more uptempo tracks which will be the perfect addition to his explosive live set (he is one of the best live artists I have ever seen). His charisma shines in his vocal and will undoubtedly wow anyone who listens to this record.

Michael has always been an artists who has stuck to his niche and given his audiences exactly what they want to hear, however, the star took a few surprising risks on this album. The lead single and album’s title track “Nobody But Me”, sees the star collaborating with his band The Roots who add an interesting rap into the song while takes a poppier direction than ever before on the ukulele-driven single “Someday” – a collaboration with Meghan Trainor. The song was written by the songstress alongside One Direction singer Harry Styles and becomes the first non-original track Bublé has ever recorded. Despite the risks, the singer continues to create music for the fans who are sure to impressed with this offering as well.

This is an album for the fans. Bublé is way too comfortable in his sound and style to entice an audience who may never have heard his music before – but that’s okay. ‘Nobody But Me’ is another fantastic release by Michael Bublé.
