Review: Madonna – Rebel Heart (Deluxe Edition)

Madonna
Rebel Heart (Deluxe Edition) (Universal Music)

Breakdown: The Queen of Reinvention has done it again! Madonna is back and 2015 sees her release her 13th studio album – Rebel Heart. The lead single off the record, Living For Love, was a bitter disappointment, however, Madonna managed to release a great record. Ghost Town serves as the second single off the record.

How Many Good Tracks: 15 of the 19.

What I Liked: Madonna has released music that truly sounds as if she has put herself on a platter – unlike previous album MDNA. Madonna is very comfortable in this pop space and the record even sees her re-collaborating with Nicki Minaj on ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’. The overall theme of the album works and it’s clear that a lot of work has been put into the album. Madonna, still today, does her best at experimenting on her albums and this time, she hit the nail on the head. The sound of this album is exactly where the pop music space is at the moment and she has gone back to basics, making this one of her best albums to date.

What I Didn’t Like: I know she’s Madonna, but sometimes, it seems as if she’s trying too hard. There are many times that the swearing on this album is just too much. That being said, I’m really enjoying this album.

Best Track: Devil Pray

Rating: 4/5

  1. ” it seems as if she’s trying too hard” …she is trying to fit in with a age group that doesn’t realise she use to be the queen of originality, I wish she would realise you don’t need to act like a teenager to be young at heart, she just need to focus on making great music(as we know she can) and the rest will follow 🙂
