Review: Little Mix – Get Weird (Deluxe Edition)

Little Mix
Get Weird (Deluxe Edition) (Sony Music)

Breakdown: Former The X Factor UK contestants Little Mix are back! The group have just released their third studio album ‘Get Weird’ which features the smash hits ‘Black Magic’ and ‘Love Me Like You’.

How Many Good Tracks: 9 of the 16.

What I Liked: Since the disappearance of The Pussycat Dolls, Little Mix have become one of the biggest girl groups in the world. Their infectious pop style has made them incredibly popular all over the world and this album will satisfy every pop lover’s musical cravings. Many of the tracks on the record are written beautifully and are super catchy. There is a bit of an old-school vibe to this album. ‘Weird People’, for example, sounds like it came from a musical like Hairspray but with a modern twist – something many artists aren’t doing these days. Vocally, the girls are on top form.

What I Didn’t Like: There isn’t much that differentiates this album from their previous albums which not only shows a lack of growth, but that the girls have become too comfortable with their sound. Unfortunately, this album is predictable and, at times, boring. Their single choices will also hamper this project. ‘Love Me Like You’ sounds so dated and there is nothing special about their new single – a collaboration with Jason Derulo.

Best Track: Weird People / Lightning

Rating: 3/5
