More heart than you ever thought possible.
Starring: Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera
Plot: Boy, did I enjoy the first film and the highly anticipated How To Train Your Dragon sequel didn’t disappoint. It’s been five years since Hiccup and Toothless successfully united dragons and vikings on the island of Berk. While Astrid, Snotlout and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Now, Hiccup and Toothless must unite to stand up for what they believe while recognizing that only together do they have the power to change the future of both men and dragons.
Remarks: As I said, I was really impressed with the first film in the franchise. In the sequel, Hiccup has grown and I like the fact they depict this in the animation. The story shows how much Hiccup and Toothless have bonded since the debut and how life has changed for the better. Now, I don’t want to ruin the story for you (meaning expect a lot of twists and turns) but the film really got me. It started off as I expected it to be and about halfway through the film just hits you. You feel a wave of emotion coming over you – one you would never expect from an animation. As the trailer tells you, Hiccup meets his mother – a woman who rescues dragons and he finds out what he wants to be in the world. This honestly blew me away and is the best animation I have seen in the past year.
