What happens when you get sent to jail? Hire someone to help you survive. Duh!
Starring: Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart
Plot: When millionaire hedge fund manager James King is convicted on fraud charges and sentenced to hard time at San Quentin, he’s given 30 days to get ready for his prison stint. He turns to tough guy Darnell Lewis to get him ready for prison. However, Darnell turns out to be an upstanding small business owner who has not only never been to prison, but he’s never even received a parking ticket.
Remarks: I’m such a fan of Will Ferrell but even I was a bit sceptical after I watched the trailer to Get Hard. Luckily, it doesn’t do the film justice. Get Hard is a hilarious comedy. Sure, it won’t win any awards but it will keep you laughing for just over an hour and a half. Will is a brilliant actor. It’s just that simple. Kevin, the same. When paired up, the film does wonders. Their chemistry as actors is brilliant and you can tell that they had a ball shooting this. While the storyline isn’t a strong one and the story is incredibly predictable, the script is great and that’s all a good comedy needs really. That being said, I did find that racial jokes were overused in the film, sometimes rather insensitive. Looking for a lighthearted movie this long weekend? Make Get Hard your choice.
