Demi Lovato
Demi (Deluxe) (Universal Music)
Breakdown: Demi Lovato released her fourth studio album ‘Demi’ back in May 2013 which spawned the smash hit singles ‘Heart Attack’ and ‘Made In The USA’ and now, she’s got a few bonus tracks to share as she releases the official deluxe edition of the album.
How Many Good Tracks: 14 of the 20.
What I Liked: Oh man, am I a huge fan of Demi Lovato. She clearly has the strongest vocals of all the Disney darlings and it’s so clear on the album. This was one of my favourite records of 2013 and on this record we have two brand new songs (one featuring Olly Murs titled ‘Up’ which was released as the second single off his new album ‘Never Been Better’. The record also features one of the biggest tracks of 2014 – ‘Let It Go’ off Disney’s ‘Frozen’ soundtrack.
What I Didn’t Like: I’m going to be frank and say that Demi Lovato wasted tons of her record label’s time and money with this deluxe edition. There is nothing that makes a fan want to own this. Two of the tracks are available on other albums (‘Up’ and ‘Let It Go’) while there are four live tracks which, in all honesty, one could watch on YouTube. The one exclusive new track doesn’t blow my mind either. When I found out Demi was re-releasing the album, I was extremely excited, but I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth. The score for this album is also based on the brilliant standard edition of the album.
