Chris Brown
X (Deluxe Edition) (Sony Music)
Breakdown: After months and months of delays, Chris Brown has finally graced us with new music as he releases his sixth studio album. Hits such as Loyal, Fine China, Love More and New Flame paved the way for a successful album and Chris made sure he delivered one of his best albums to date. The album sees the crooner join forces with the likes of Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz, Jhené Aiko, Brandy, Akon, Kendrick Lamar, R Kelly and more.
How Many Good Tracks: 16 of the 21.
What I Liked: I know one of the biggest Chris Brown fans there is and he always tells me that “no matter what, Chris Brown always brings the hits” and that’s exactly what he did on this album. The record is a step up, for me, from his previous album ‘Fortune’ and it sees the side of Chris we know and love. . Musically, Chris plays around with a variety of genres on the album which, again, proves that Chris can deliver a hit no matter the genre. Chris, despite his personal drama, is a man of music and, as heard on X, he does this so well. Also, there are 21 tracks on the album so there is value for money here.
What I Didn’t Like: There isn’t much I didn’t like about this album. The one thing I could say is that although he appeals to many different people with this album, as a result of him dabbling into the different genres, it could be a bit confusing to box it towards one group of people. Oh, and those interludes are horrible. Why do artists still do them?
Best Track: Don’t Be Gone Too Long is a banger but I wish they could have made a plan to keep Ariana Grande on the track. Oh, and who doesn’t love Loyal?
Rating: 4/5
