Chad Da Don
The Book Of Chad (DCM Entertainment)
Breakdown: He’s one of the hottest new rappers in the game and now, Chad Da Don has just dropped his debut album ‘The Book Of Chad’. The record features the smash hits ‘Sorry Mom I’m Moving Out’ and ‘EFT’ and made an impressive debut at number one on the local iTunes charts.
How Many Good Tracks: 17 of the 22.
What I Liked: This is a fantastic debut. Chad Da Don has delivered a collection of personal songs and articulates his feelings in the most magical way on this record. Lyrically, the rapper digs deep into his soul and opens up on his hard childhood. From finacial problems so watching his father beat up his mother, Chad uses the album as a sort of therapy. The album is incredibly personal and seeing an artist opening up like this is so beautiful. Chad enlisted the help of fantastic producers who elevate the sound of the album to that of an international standard. While usually I’m not a fan of too many collaborations, Chad Da Don has used the many guest artists as a way to polish his story off and not just to add star power to his music – the perfect way to incorporate collaborations. This is a fantastic rap record.
What I Didn’t Like: There are certain moments on the album where the white rapper almost emulates the lyrical style and flow of Eminem – especially on tracks such as ‘Down That Road’.
Best Track: Sorry Mom I’m Moving Out (Feat. Anatii)
Rating: 4/5
