Review: Carrie Underwood – Storyteller

Storyteller-Album-cover

Carrie Underwood
Storyteller (Sony Music)

Breakdown: American singer and American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, has become one of the biggest names in country music. Now, she has dropped her fifth studio album ‘Storyteller’ which was preceded by the smash hits ‘Smoke Break’ and ‘Heartache’.

How Many Good Tracks: 7 of the 13.

What I Liked: Carrie has always considered herself a country artist however, her music blurs the lines between country and pop and since the genre has increased in popularity over the past few years, so has her popularity. This album is another perfect example of this. Carrie brings the girl-next-door persona to life with her new album while exploring a whole bunch of country sounds. There are some big country songs on this album that will make any fan of the genre stand up and listen. Vocally, Carrie delivers her strongest performance yet proving there is still a lot to the artist we are yet to hear.

What I Didn’t Like: Carrie, however, stays in her lane. Despite being fantastic at what she does, this is another predictable album from the singer. We’d like to hear mix it up and take a few more risks next time around. That being said, Carrie has continued to bring us the very best country music.

Best Track: Church Bells

Rating: 3/5
