A hilarious comedy that every mom should watch.
Starring: Mila Kunis and Christina Applegate
Plot: In this new comedy from the writers of The Hangover, Amy Mitchell has a seemingly perfect life: a great marriage, over-achieving kids, a beautiful home and a career. However, she’s over-worked,over-committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms, Kiki and Carla , on a quest to liberatethemselves from conventional responsibilities – going on a wild, un-mom-likebinge of long overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence –and putting them ona collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted, perfect moms, Vicky and Stacy.
Remarks: On first look, this seems like your everyday, generic, safe comedy and, to be honest, I didn’t give it much thought after watching the trailer a few months back. But boy, was I wrong! The film is written by the same group of writers behind The Hangover and managed to portray many of the frustrations mothers today face. Amy, Mila Kunis’ character, is exhausted and many don’t know just how much a mom has to do on a daily basis – especially if she works a full-time job. So, when her life starts to unravel, she spills on the many frustrating things she has to deal with as a mother. I think many people have these frustrations but are happy to put up with ridiculous PTA meetings etc because they love their kids endlessly – and this movie depicts just that. This film is R-Rated as well so expect a whole lot of swearing and crude jokes – which, again, makes the film incredibly relatable. Other than the strong story, the film was brilliantly cast. Mila shines in the lead role and the supporting cast was incredibly strong. I loved Christina Applegate in the film. She is so sassy and I really enjoyed seeing her character unfold. The film also had a banging soundtrack which, for me, is important as well. While ‘Bad Moms’ won’t win any awards or change anyone’s life, it’s a hilarious comedy done right and I highly suggest it.
