Alesso
Forever (Universal Music)
Breakdown: EDM DJ’s all over the world have jumped on the album bandwagon and after his success with Swedish House Mafia, Swedish DJ and producer, Alesso, has released his debut studio album. ‘Forever’ includes the smash hits ‘Heroes’ featuring Tove Lo, the new single ‘Cool’ featuring Roy English and the official remix to OneRepublic’s ‘If I Lose Myself’
How Many Good Tracks: 9 of the 14.
What I Liked: Madonna has called Alesso the next big name in EDM music – so we know he’s good. The album is well-polished and well produced. There are some brilliant collaborations on the album and the tracks are sure to kick-start your Saturday night. Alesso has really learned a lot over the past few years and has tapped some brilliant vocalists on this album. Listen to this album and you will find your new party song, I guarantee that!
What I Didn’t Like: I can’t help but feel, however, that Alesso has taken the sound he made with Swedish House Mafia and just recycled that a bit to make this album. Many of the records on the album sound like outtakes from that album which is rather disappointing. While we love a good instrumental, Alesso has quite a few of these on this record and while they’re good, we just don’t think they fit on an album he markets as something similar to David Guetta, Zedd or Hardwell.
Best Track: Cool (Feat. Roy English)
Rating: 3/5
