It’s been four years since rapper and producer pH RawX has released any music of his own but 2019 sees a major turning point in the star’s career. He inked a deal with Warner Music South Africa, has announced a brand-new album on the way and now, he’s dropped the project’s lead single – a single titled ‘Ibeballinho’ which features the one and only Sho Madjozi.
The rapper and Sho Madjozi have a long, powerful relationship. The producer lent his voice to a track off the star’s award-winning album ‘Limpopo Champions League’ and appeared on the album as a producer. After the magic they created on the record, collaborating on a rap song was a no-brainer.
“It was important to begin this new journey with ‘my captain’ at my side. After all the success of her debut album ‘Limpopo Champions League’, it felt more than appropriate to have Sho Madjozi on this track,” pH tells us. “I’m so happy she agreed. Both of us make use of our home language, Tsonga, in the song, showcasing our roots. The song celebrates our growth as people, as artists & our friendship.”

On his previous work with the singer, pH RawX tells us that “It’s crazy to see something I put my identity and stamp on being recognized by the world. It was an important moment since Madjozi came she has opened up the doors for a very different kind of sound that we have encouraged South Africa to embrace. It’s always a wonderful thing to be recognized by for your work for sure, but for this Madjozi case, it’s extra special because she has broken boundaries with everything she does. It represents more than the music, it’s about the culture, it’s about the movement”
The rapper has also revealed that he has a string of new singles in the pipeline for the next few months and is excited about the endless possibilities his new record deal brings to the table. “It was a big move. I’ve been working as an independent artist for a long time but I have achieved a lot. The thing is, I thought about it for a long time and I could say that I have got the music,” pH RawX says. “My track record shows I have got the music, I have always had the music and I have done a lot without a label. But now it’s time for my music to reach the masses. Signing this deal was about getting my music as far and wide as possible. But I chose Warner because I wanted to stand out as an artist”.
‘Ibeballinho’ is now available to download or stream everywhere.
