She appeared on Ms Cosmo’s jam-packed ‘Le Femme’ remix of her single ‘Now Or Never’ and after slaying her verse on the track, Patty Monroe is back with her brand new single ‘Castles’. The single has been a long time coming for Patty and she plans on making a big statement as the single gets sent to radio stations across the country.
The track is a lovely blend of pop and hip-hop which will allow the track to crossover between the two platforms. The rapper delivers a killer rap alongside a smooth, catchy chorus. What I really like about the single is how it manages to stand out from the other material the local female rap scene is producing. The one thing I am worried about is the fact that Patty channels a lot of Nicki Minaj into the track. I hear a lot of ‘Your Love’ and even hints of ‘Moment 4 Life’ in the song and I’m worried this will make audiences assume she is a copycat.
Patty has been working on her craft for years and has revealed that the release of this single is a major milestone in her career. “I’ve waited for this moment for almost three years now, and it’s finally arrived,” she said shortly after the single dropped earlier this month.
