Local pop singer Nicholas Joubert makes his musical debut this week as he premieres his groovy debut single ‘Someone New’. The track was inspired by heartbreak and sees the singer navigate all the emotions that comes with closing a romantic chapter.
When writing the song, Nicholas explains that the process served as a personal catharsis for him. He says he underwent a ton of self-reflection, learning a lot about himself and the world around him.
“I wrote this song after going through a breakup and navigating through all the emotions that go with it,” Nicholas tells us. “Managing my emotions at the time of the break-up seemed almost impossible,” he explains. “I wrote down what I was going through and it was like my own personal therapy.”
Interestingly, ‘Someone New’ is the singer’s first attempt at writing a song. Motivated by his trip to The International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) convention in 2022, Nicholas was tasked with the assignment of writing an original song. He explains “I needed an original song for next year when I am going to the United States for the IMTA. I loved the song so much that I decided to release it as a single. And the story continues…”
On ‘Someone New’, Nicholas showcases his storytelling abilities and we look forward to seeing him hone his craft in his upcoming releases.
