Friday is my favourite day of the week. Not only is the weekend so close, but it’s the day where all the new music drops around the world! Each week, I will pick my favourite new single releases and introduce you to the very best the music industry has to offer!
Britney Spears – Glory
She is one of the biggest pop stars in the world. Not only is she in the middle of a massive residency in Vegas but the pop princess is currently promoting her new single ‘Make Me…’. The single is the lead off her new album ‘Glory’ which dropped everywhere today. The album is currently sitting at number two on the local iTunes charts so get your copy and help it reach number one!
Johnny Apple – Home Tonight
It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from SA’s Got Talent winner Johnny Apple. The singer has been locked up in studio working on his second studio album and has just dropped the lead single off the album – a track called ‘Home Tonight’. The moody pop song is simply produced and lets Johnny put his incredible vocals on full display. The song was also written by newcomer Ruby Gill. I’m excited to see how well this song does for him. I had a chat with the star recently about his upcoming album. Read it here.
Dua Lipa – Blow Your Mind (Mwah!)
Dua Lipa is undoubtedly one of my favourite newcomers of 2016. Her current smash ‘Hotter Than Hell’ is a perfect pop track which is on the rise here in South Africa and as the 21-year-old preps her debut studio album, which drops in February next year, she has dropped the next single off the project called ‘Blow Your Mind (Mwah!)’. Much like ‘Hotter Than Hell’, the new single is also incredibly catchy with a banging production. Keep an eye on this girl. She’s going to be huge.
Måns Zelmerlöw – Hanging On To Nothing
He took home the Eurovision crown back in 2015 and after taking some time off to work on some new material, Swedish pop star Måns Zelmerlöw is back with a brand new single! The singer premieres his comeback single ‘Hanging On To Nothing’ today. The track serves as the lead single off his upcoming seventh studio album. The song is a lovely pop track with a simple beat and melody. Although I would have liked to hear Måns take a few more risks with the single, he knows what his audience likes – and has given them just that!
