Rapper Nadia Nakai is making big strides in her career. The singer confirmed that she has cut ties with former record label Family Tree and is putting in the groundwork to start a record label of her own.
The decision comes after the rapper and Family Tree founder Cassper Nyovest’s relationship became strained – mostly due to Nadia’s relationship with Cassper’s nemesis AKA. However, she admits that her relationship with Cassper remains in tact and that the decision to leave the label was one she needed to make to achieve the next steps in her career.
“I am no longer with The Tree. I am working on my own record label. I need to be able to stand on my own,” Nadia says. “Funny enough, I was actually scared to tell Cass. Even after I told him, I could feel that he was a bit sad, but we are good. He even suggested a few record label names for me to use.. I will always hold Cass at the highest regard and respect because he’s been very instrumental in my career and my life.”
She adds that while the label is still in its infancy stage, she has big plans for it. “I want to be able to get to a point where even when I have kids, I can still work on an artist and actively build their brand. I am a little bit scared but also super excited,” Nadia continues.
