Local popstar Michael Lowman makes his highly-anticipated return later this month as he drops his brand new album ‘Pop Radio’ on the 31st of March. The record includes the hit single ‘Mixtape’ featuring Karlien Van Jaarsveld and for the second release, the crooner has teamed up with Khuli Chana on the track ‘Power & Glory’.
Inspired by one of Michael’s favourite hang-out spots in Cape Town, a little bar called ‘The Power and The Glory’, the song shows us a side of Michal Lowman we haven’t seen yet. With an interesting mix hip-hop, pop and rock, the song is something different and creative – something I’ve come to expect from Michael. Khuli Chana opens the song with a flawless verse. The rapper is easily one of the greatest names in South African hip-hop and it’s great to see Michael join forces with an act like Khuli. Vocally, Michael gives another great vocal performance and although the song is a little too repetitive for me, it’s expected to be another hit for the singer.
“Power&Glory is about, more than anything, believing in yourself and your internal message. We all compromise ourselves because we believe we’re not truly worthy of success… of a true dream-grabbing success. I don’t know why that is? I do it all the time,” Michael says. “This song is about finding courage to speak your mind and live your truth. It’s a powerful song with powerful arrangement, old school ‘dirty’ drum sounds, organic percussion, throw-back brass, screaming guitars and one bad ass rapper! Anybody looking for a self-empowering anthem with a hard hitting groove will LOVE this song. Power&Glory is for everybody.”
The singer was also thrilled to be working alongside Khuli Chana. “He brought such incredible energy to the song, his passion and commitment to this art form is what sets Khuli apart from the rest,” said. “It’s an honour to have him on this track.” Michael’s upcoming album ‘PopRadio’ is available for pre-order now.
