It was the grand final of the coveted singing competition Eurovision last night which sees countries around Europe (and from this year, Australia) competing in a battle of epic proportions. The grand final saw 27 countries making it through and had a chance to battle it out once again before voting opened to the continent. Now, if you’re living in France, you can vote for any other country but France so the results get real interesting!
The winning country was none other than Sweden – who have officially won the contest more than any other country in Europe. Yup! In its 60th year, Sweden has won an impressive 6 times! Their previous win was with Loreen’s epic single ‘Euphoria’ back in 2012. Now, if you follow this blog closely, you will know that I am a huge fan of Swedish music and I’ve had Måns Zelmerlöw’s Avicii-inspired track ‘Heroes’ on repeat since March so I was rooting for him all the way.
Not only was the song great, but his delivery of it was spectacular. The animation used during his performance was absolutely brilliant and he clearly worked really hard at giving a stellar performance. During the results process, Sweden fell from first to third and I was almost convinced that Russia would take the crown but, luckily, Måns and Sweden came out tops! Check out his epic performance and the finale scoreboard below:
