It’s been over a year since we’ve had some new music from Locnville and the boys seemed to keep us waiting forever. However, the wait seems to be worth it as the Brian and Andrew Chaplin team up with Ugandan duo Radio & Weasel for their new catchy afro-pop single ‘Done’.
The new single sees the duo continue their pop, radio-friendly direction that evolves from their latest album ‘Taste The Weekend’ and deliver the melodic, catchy new single we were all hoping for. The group experiments with African elements mashed up with their traditional pop, hip-hop and subtle electronic elements. The song gets an exciting afro-pop twist thanks to Radio & Weasel who deliver a solid performance. Their flow and rhythm adds an interesting dynamic to the single and it’s great to see artists from around Africa joining forces while showcasing the raw talent and unique sounds that the continent has to offer.
“We’ve never seen ourselves as pop stars or singers, but rather music producers who happen to sing on our own tracks,” Andrew explains as he discusses the new musical direction the group has taken on this new chapter. Meanwhile, Brian adds that the new melodic approach to their music is part of a major strategy that will take Locnville’s career to the next level. “I wanted the song to be an ear worm on first listen, but also to have depth when you read the lyrics, and I know that we’ve achieved that here,” he explains. The single had a massive launch campaign and is expected to be one of the group’s biggest singles to date. The song is available on all major digital platforms so be sure to support African music and download or stream the song today!
