It’s the biggest entertainment brand in the world and after incredible shows such as E! News, E! True Hollywood Story and the countless reality shows produced by the channel, E! has commissioned a brand new locally produced series called “E! News Special” and it will feature some of South Africa’s biggest stars. The series will premiere on E! (DStv Channel 124) in South Africa on Thursday, 10th September at 8pm.
According to a press release, “Each episode of E! News Special will chronicle the journey of a single personality, giving viewers unique insights into their lives through a mixture of exclusive interviews and other footage. The featured celebrities will include South African TV and radio personality, Bonang Matheba; actress Terry Pheto; model, and TV host, Shashi Naidoo; music artist AKA; and singer, actor and songwriter Danny K – with more to be announced.”
It’s rather interesting that E! has commissioned these shows especially after M-Net commissioned a similar concept called ‘My Story’ earlier this year which gave viewers an inside look at the lives of stars such as Kurt Darren, DJ Fresh and Leon Schuster. However, I must admit that E!’s engaging yet informative style of reporting will bring this show to life and it will be something South African television has never seen before.
I’m so excited to see what the show brings to the table but I’m even more excited that international channels such as E!, BBC, Lifetime etc are creating local content. Bring on the 10th of September!
