Local Pop Group ADAM Announce Hiatus

Say it isn’t so! Local Afrikaans pop group, ADAM, who has been responsible for hits like ‘Kasteel’, ‘Gebore Om Jou Lief Te Hê’, ‘Goud’, ‘Hoogtevrees’, ‘Sal Oorlog Vir Jou Maak’, ‘Sê My’ and many more have announced their hiatus as members Kyle Grant, Hugo Ludik and Reynardt Hugo focus on their individual careers.

From the start, ADAM’s energetic performances, unique sound and beautiful lyrics resonated with audiences of all ages and unleashed their performances at some of the biggest events, festivals, shows and functions in the country. The group also won several major music awards and even made it to the big screen in the box office ‘Pad Na Jou Hart’.

But, it is with a very heavy heart that ADAM decided to bid farewell to this successful chapter of their lives at the end of 2019.

“The last ten years with ADAM has been one incredible journey,” Hugo Ludik tells us. “Thank you to everyone who helped build behind the scenes this brainchild of mine, as well as to everyone who bought a CD or attended a show or supported ADAM in any other way. You have helped to realize this dream of mine! ”

Reynardt Hugo adds “What an incredible journey this was – almost a decade of something I’m very proud of. Our music was made out of our hearts and it was great to be able to share it with you. Thank you to all the loyal supporters over the years – without you our success, this would not have been possible. To my fellow band members – it was an honor to be able to share the stage with you. Through thick and thin we stood together and our music remained our number one priority. ADAM’s ship may have stopped for now, but will remain in our hearts forever.”

Finally, Kyle Grant tells us that “I want to thank everyone who has touched my heart over the past six years and made my path with ADAM a memorable one. The time has now come for us to move on so that I can further my soul and my artistry. My big dream is to keep singing and to bring all South Africans together and I look forward to the road ahead. But, I will cherish all those beautiful memories with ADAM forever.”

Fans who want to get a glimpse of ADAM live one last time will be able to do so until the end of the year.

Farewell, ADAM. Thank you for the music.
