With his debut releases, Lee Cole has cemented himself as one of the most exciting new faces on the local pop space. Now, riding off the success of ‘I Don’t Wanna Wait’ and ‘Pink Dragons’, Lee Cole showcases his incredible vocal on his new single ‘Honey, Let Me In’.
Reminiscent of a John Legend ballad, the single was written and recorded in Lee’s bedroom in January 2021 and showcases his talents not only as a writer, but also as a producer.
The song is about the moment of euphoria after meeting someone who takes your breath away. “I wrote this single after a friend of mine described his experience to me. He was at his significant other’s home and he described the feeling of being with her as euphoric; something he didn’t want to end. And that’s what ‘Honey, Let Me In’ is about,” Lee explains. “You’re with someone you love dearly and you just want them to stay with you, in that moment – forever.”
The star dropped a music video to accompany the new release. The video is a tongue-in-cheek clip that showcases the star’s not-so-serious side.
“When I was considering the video for ‘Honey, Let Me In’ I played around the idea of having fun. I decided to showcase that – although my music is mainly very serious – I am by nature not too serious. I also wanted to experiment with greenscreen and to showcase my performance with a band for people who have never seen me live,” Lee says. “As a result, this is the first video that doesn’t directly tie in with the theme of the song – but its major fun and that’s all that matters.”
