Lea Michele’s first attempt at releasing an album didn’t go according to plan. The singer released ‘Louder’ back in 2014 to lukewarm reviews. Singles ‘Cannonball’ and ‘On My Way’ didn’t make much of an impact and therefore sales weren’t as high as the singer expected. Since then Lea has taken a break from music and focused on her hit TV show ‘Scream Queens’. Now, however, she’s back with a beautiful new single called ‘Love Is Alive’.
The song sees the singer take a change in direction sonically. While many of the ballads off her debut album felt incredibly over-produced, ‘Love Is Alive’ shows off her softer, more vulnerable side. What I love about this song is that it’s a song of hope. Lea experienced the tragedy of losing a lover and here, she reminds herself that love is, indeed, alive. While it may not be a song that will get major airplay, it’s a beautiful piece of work from the singer. Her voice is strong and powerful and the song is raw and full of emotion – everything that makes a ballad work.
“It’s such a special song for me,” Lea says. “I wanted a song on the album that represented where I am personally in my life right now, and this song is exactly that. It’s about believing in love and the power and beauty of love. It made me so happy while recording it, and I hope it brings the same light and joy to everyone else as it has for me.” The song is scheduled to appear on her upcoming record ‘Places’ and serves as a buzz single for the singer’s new album with the lead single scheduled for release later this year.
