You may remember local singer Lakota Silva from her smash singles Sweatt and Do Re Mi and as she drops her debut album POP: The Mixtape this week, she also has a brand new single out titled Revelation. With her edgy take on pop music, Lakota has become one of the most exciting new names in the local music industry.
From the production to Lakota’s vocals, the track has Gwen Stefani written all over it. Lakota bring an element of cool to this track. We are obsessed with the pre-chorus and the way it mixes reggae and eastern elements into an epic pop track. “The song focuses on that which we as a people do have, rather than that which we don’t. To be grateful and thankful and know how happy we could be if we just changed our perspective once in a while. When we’re doing this, we’re doing it well, with our hands to the sky and a story to tell,” Lakota says.
The track is definitely a grower and we love how Lakota experiments with her sound and isn’t afraid to take risks. Sure, we prefer her more pop-sounding material like I’m So Crunked Up, but Lakota is doing this music thing brilliantly! Support local music and buy the track off iTunes!
