kykNET’s epic reality challenge ‘Die Brug’ Renewed For Season Two

Somewhere on an island marked by a tower, sits a chest containing another R1 million in cash. The only way to get there is to build a bridge – and convince your fellow builders to let you cross it to claim the prize. kykNET’s epic reality challenge Die Brug [The Bridge] is back for a bigger, bolder second season, and entries are open until 31 August on the kykNET website.

Die Brug places a group of strangers in a remote wilderness with one simple task: construct a bridge from the shore to an island where the R1 million prize awaits, in under 20 days. The challenge is that the game isn’t just about building a structure – it’s also about testing the players’ social skills, morals, physical and mental strength and endurance in the face of a life-altering prize. How will they bridge the divides in their own lives, navigate their own biases to work together to succeed? Who will be the first to negotiate their way across the bridge to the prize – and will they stick to the promises that helped them get there?

Viewers who followed the riveting first season may think they have it all figured out, but the goalposts are shifting for season two. The players must work together to cross turbulent waters – often of their own making – and negotiate unexpected new twists and temptations, with plenty of surprises along the way.

Die Brug is a global phenomenon and was one of the best-performing reality shows on kykNET last year. So, we’re excited to bring a second season to our viewers,” says Waldimar Pelser, Channel Director: Premium Channels at MultiChoice Group. “It quickly gained a fanatical following, and we’ve worked hard to make sure that those fans are rewarded – and that the players in the second season will be kept on their toes.”

The show’s success has seen Season 1’s Avril Albetti pick up a nomination for Personality of the Year at this year’s Silwerskerm Awards for Film and TV, demonstrating its appeal beyond the realms of reality TV.

Die Brug is produced by Red Pepper Pictures and will be broadcast on kykNET early in 2025. Enter at kykNET.tv before 31 August if you believe you can bridge the divide to R1 million.

If you’re planning on attending Liefde By Die Dam on 3 August at the Emmerentia Dam in Johannesburg, you can give it your best shot right there and audition for season 2 at the official kykNET Die Brug S2 audition stand. Entrants are welcome to enter online as well as try their luck at Liefde By Die Dam.
