For the first time in four years, Kesha has released new music. The singer has just released her new single ‘Praying’ after a massive legal battle between her former producer Dr. Luke. However, after her claims of abuse were dismissed by a New York judge last April, the shackles have come off and the star is free to release new music. ‘Praying’ is an emotional new ballad which serves as the lead single off her upcoming third studio album which drops in August.
“Obviously my first song is a ballad which is always risky for a pop singer. But hopefully the truth in the message will shine through,” the star says about her new single. In the son, Kesha opens up about the abuse she encountered from the producer as she sings “We both know all the truth I could tell,” she sings adding “You brought the flames and you put me through hell, I had to learn how to fight for myself / And we both know all the truth I could tell, I’ll just say this, I wish you farewell, I hope you’re somewhere praying.”
What’s bizarre is that the star is still trapped in her record deal between Dr. Luke’s label Kemosabe so, the album will be released through Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records and fellow Sony label RCA Records. However, although this is far from an ideal home for the star, she’s excited to finally release the music she has been working on over the past four years. “There was a very long, long, long period of time where I was not sure if I was ever going to be able to put out music again, and that’s all I ever wanted to do since I can remember being a person,” she says adding that she named the album ‘Rainbow’ because “The s***storm’s over and this is the beginning of the good stuff.”
